Mice are the Mernda rodent story on the estates. Doreen, Wollert and the eastern edge of Mernda back onto open paddocks, and the first cold week of autumn sends mice into garages and roof voids through the gap under the roller door. Closer to the Plenty River, the gorge and the older village streets, and out on the acreage in Yan Yean and Whittlesea, it is rats, coming off the water and the bush into subfloors, sheds and roof spaces from May onward.
We run a baiting program with lockable, tamper-resistant stations placed along the runs rodents use: fence lines, behind the shed, under the house and in the roof void. Stations are checked and refilled on a return visit. The important half of the job is finding how they get in, and on a new build that is almost always the roller door gap or an unsealed penetration where the plumbing or air conditioning comes through the slab. We tell you exactly what to seal.
